2025 Summer Adult Season
For the time ever, we are offering a summer adult program! We're keeping it a little short--5 weeks--as we know you have busy summer plans (the season will run from Monday, July 7 thru Sunday, August 10). The week of August 11 will be a make-up week for weather-related cancellations.
Given busy summer schedule, we are also offering the ability to sub or split a season--you can view classes that need subs and pay here (and see more below).
When: We are offering classes during the week (7 am, 5 pm, 6 pm and 7 pm classes) and during the weekend (classes all day on Sat and Sun). The reason we're offering limited classes during the week is our all-day youth summer camp will be in high gear!
Can I sub and buy someone's slot? Or can I split a registration? Maybe! We have set up this google doc for players who are already registered and want to list spots they can't attend and want to sell. Or, you can list your name as someone who wants to split a registration (i.e. for the 5-week season, you play two classes; the other person plays the other three). Please note: LTA will not be involved in matching you up--via this google doc, you can find a match, venmo each other and someone registers for the class. Same thing if you are buying a slot from someone--LTA is not involved! This arrangement will NOT supplant our regular make-up system once the season starts; you need to sell your spots or split the season before our season starts July 7. Why? We'd like to keep our make up system simple where players can easily trade/swap classes at the last minute once our season starts!
About adult lessons: We are offering tennis lessons for beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced players. Our beginner classes will help new players learn the basics of the game including forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Our advanced beginner classes will cover proper stroke technique, footwork, positioning and game strategy. For our intermediate classes, we'll focus on refining key strokes and help players improve their consistency, control, directional control, depth and variety. For our advanced classes (4.0/4.5+), we'll customize our class and work on players' specific goals which might include developing depth and variety of shots, being more aggressive at the net, court coverage, footwork and strategy. For all of our classes, we will have a max of 4 players to a court.
-About specialty classes: Let's Play: This class is for Advanced Beginner/Lower Intermediate players who have begun to rally and are eager to learn the ins and outs of playing. Class begins with refresher drills to warm up, followed by doubles play guided by Coach Forrest who will guide the class on the ins and outs of playing. He'll cover the why’s of court positions at starts of points, basic strategy, score keeping, partner communication and more. Speciality Shots: In this class, Forrest will offer highly technical tune-ups and for each class, focus on one key stroke (i.e. serves, approach shots, volleys, lobs).
-About cardio tennis: Taught by Coach Delmas, these classes bring together a variety of cardio workouts, tennis drills, and games. A typical class involves warm up drills, catching/tossing skills and light hitting, followed by a variety of games and a cool down.
-Coaches: Our spring program will be taught by coaches Danielle Faucher, Syd Butler, Forrest Bankston, Iliya Taranin, Amy Georgescu and Delmas Ntcha. Check out their bios here.
-Price: $40/class or $200 for the 5-week season.
-Make-ups: If we have to cancel a class due to weather, the coaches will work with each class to schedule a make up class or we will refund you. For personal absences, we will have a make up sheet (google doc) where you can swap classes--you can post a class you're missing and sign up for someone else's.
-Where: Lafayette-Pointer Park Tennis courts (Courts 1 and 2). Please note these are outdoor courts.
-Tennis gear: If you need to buy any gear, we have a relationship with Tennis Zone (4839 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, WDC) where you can get 10% off (mention LTA).
