2025 Fall Adult Tennis
We are offering one-hour group adult tennis lessons for a 9 or 10 week season (starting the week of September 8 through the week of November 10th). Monday and Tuesday classes will be a 9-week season due to Federal holidays (Monday, October 13/Indigenous People's Day and Tuesday, November 11). Please see below the exact dates for each class.
Please note: Our classes will be held outside, so bundle up and be ready for a workout!
As we do with every adult season, we may need to consolidate and combine classes if we don't have 4 players for each class. We keep our classes to a maximum of 4 players (due to popular demand) and so our coaches can give players more individualized instruction. We will be in touch before classes start if we need to consolidate. Also, if you see a class that suits your schedule but not your level (i.e. beg, advanced beg, intermediate), contact Kate and we'll see what we can do!
About adult lessons: We are offering tennis lessons for beginners, advanced beginners and intermediate players. Our beginner classes will help new players learn the basics of the game including forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Our advanced beginner classes will cover proper stroke technique, footwork, positioning and game strategy. For our intermediate classes, we'll focus on refining key strokes and help players improve their consistency, control, directional control, depth and variety. For our advanced classes (4.0/4.5+), we'll customize our class and work on players' specific goals which might include developing depth and variety of shots, being more aggressive at the net, court coverage, footwork and strategy. For all of our classes, we will have a max of 4 players to a court.
-About our cardio classes: Taught by Coach Delmas, our cardio classes provide fun and casual group exercise for all ages, ability and fitness levels. Our sessions bring together a variety of cardio workouts, tennis drills, and games. A typical class involves a warm up featuring dynamic movement, catching/tossing skills and light hitting, followed by a variety of games and a cool down.
-About our "Specialty Shot" classes: Taught by Coach Forrest, this class offers highly technical tune-ups and for each class, Forrest will focus on one key stroke (i.e. serves, approach shots, volleys, lobs). This is for Intermediate (or higher) players.
-About our "Let's Play" class: This class is for Advanced Beginner players who have begun to rally and are eager to learn the ins and outs of playing. Class will begin with refresher drills to warm up, followed by doubles play guided by Coach Forrest who will guide the class on the ins and outs of playing. He'll cover the why’s of court positions at starts of points, basic strategy, score keeping and its common variances, partner communication, coordinating court coverage and movement with your partner (and more as it comes up!) This is challenging but thrilling stage as you start your journey applying what you practice in drill sessions.
About our Doubles Strategy class: The Doubles Strategy class will be taught by coach Forrest Bankston. Players will play actual games (a set) under the watchful eye of Coach Forrest. Forrest will intermittently pause play to guide players in recognizing missed opportunities, and better shot selection, court positioning, and movement patterns. If a player’s technique is causing consistent difficulties, Forrest will address them as much as possible within the parameters of the movement and strategy goals. In other words, stroke technique is emphasized less and proper court positioning, movement, shot selection and strategy is emphasized.
-Coaches: Our Fall program will be taught by coaches Danielle Faucher, Forrest Bankston, Delmas Ntcha, Alex Alterman and Will Perez. Check out their bios here.
-Price: $40/class or $360 for a 9-week season and $400 for a 10-week season.
-When: Please see schedule below. If you are interested in creating a POD class with friends, please contact Elizabeth at [email protected]. Of, if you want to see if we can change the level (i.e. beg, intermediate, advanced) or time for a class you're interested in, contact Elizabeth.
-Make-ups: For personal absences, we will offer 1 make-up class where players can attend other classes during the week. We will provide an online sign-up where players can trade slots. If we have to cancel a class due to weather, the coaches will work with each class to schedule a make up class. We are reserving the week of November 17 as a make up week (for weather related cancellations) and will schedule on an as-needed basis.
-Federal holidays: We will not hold classes on Federal holidays (Monday, October 13/Indigenous People's Day and Tuesday, November 11). If you sign up for a Monday or Tuesday class, you will not be charged for these dates.
-Where: Lafayette-Pointer Park Tennis courts (Courts 1 and 2). Please note these are outdoor courts.
-Tennis gear: If you need to buy any gear, we have a relationship with Tennis Zone (4839 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, WDC) where you can get 10% off (mention LTA).
